BB Creams by Dr. Jart

It has now been over a year since Peter and I visited Asia and I first discovered BB creams. No, it didn’t take much for me to join the mass hysteria that surrounds this magical product. With almost every beauty brand coming out with their own version of a BB cream, I found it extremely difficult to make a choice. But you know what really threw me into a panic-stricken state? It was knowing that I would have limited access to the stuff once I returned home. If you are already using BB creams yourself, you will understand my sentiment. Well, my fears have officially been erased. I am very happy to say that BB Creams have now officially landed in North America! Yay!! Still confused about this BB cream gibberish that I speak about? Refer to my previous post here for an explanation.

Because BB creams (with its massive cult following) originated from Korea, it is only natural that Korean beauty brands are taking over the East. Oh how I {heart} Korean beauty brands! A particularly well-known Korean cosmeceutical brand is Dr. Jart. I am particularly drawn to Dr. Jart’s products because they are all formulated for sensitive skin types. This means that Dr. Jart products do not contain ingredients such as alcohol, colourants or fragrance which can potentially irritate the skin. Finally! A BB cream for sensitive skin – a true match made in heaven!

My favourite Dr. Jart BB Cream is the Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream. It already has a sunscreen SPF 25/ PA++ built in, meaning that there’s no need to layer another sunscreen on top. I find that the Black Label BB Cream blends into my olive complexion the best. With that said however, many BB creams such as this one are only offered in one shade. While it does blend into a wide range of skin tones, it still may not work for all skin tones.

So why the mad craze over BB Creams, you ask? Its magic lies in its ability to make your skin will look instantly smooth, flawless and radiant. Its lightweight texture resembles the feel of a tinted moisturizer but covers like a high-coverage foundation. Talk about faking 8 hours of sleep!

For the sake of demonstration, I applied BB cream to only half of my face. This is the side with just bare skin. See how my complexion has a bit of a greyish-cast and you can see my freckles (not that there’s anything wrong with freckles, but it seems unusual for an Asian)?

This is the side with Dr. Jart’s Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream. My skin looks instantly brighter, more radiant. And my freckles have virtually disappeared…

If you have uneven skin tone, blotchiness, or blemish-ridden skin, the BB cream works wonders to cover it all. Most BB creams, like this one also has anti-aging benefits. Thank goodness we can now purchase the products easily in North America. For Dr. Jart’s products, just visit where your BB cream awaits :).

And yes, I am running another giveaway. This time I am giving away 2 products: Dr. Jart’s Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream and Dr. Jart’s Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream. My mom bought me a tube of BB cream from Korea. It was a fantastic product: didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, light weight and soooooooooooo smooth. Only downfall, as Connie had stated, it came in only one shade. Unfortunately for me it was a shade or 2 too dark :( I was only able to use it when a was a little more tan…

    • Connie

Hi Dana! Yes, I think it depends on the brand that you buy. Some brands have colors that are a bit lighter!

  • Isabel

Connie, cool product!! I rarely ever wear foundation because I have super sensitive skin and I have fair skin… except for the ton of little brown/reddish freckles I get (and keep for all of summer) after some sunshine!! :(
