A couple weeks ago, when the Canada Post strike was finally over, I received in influx of new product samples to review. Yes, it’s a tough life I lead, I know. Anyway, among them, was the super fun Ageless Bath Pearls made by Calgon. I’m sure all of you are familiar with Calgon’s infamous tagline: “Take me away…” What does this mean to you? To me, I picture an outdoor spa oasis, something like this…
Anyway, Calgon has launched a new line of anti-aging bath products this past June, which I think is a great category. It makes sense, right? We spend so much time with anti-aging products on our face, but what about the rest of our body? In Europe, women are accustomed to spending just as much on their body care as their skincare, perhaps it’s time that we do too?
Anyway, these bath pearls contain Calgon’s Vita-Pearl™ technology which is basically their concoction of pearl powder, vitamin E and collagen. Vitamin E, of course, is known to help with skin regeneration, collagen for improving skin elasticity and pearl powder for radiance. Oh and let me mention, the product is huge – a whopping 16 oz. (453 g)! It retails for approximately $4.99, so yeah, it’s basically a steal. You can purchase at your local Wal-Mart, Kroger or Loblaws.
I like the fact that they come in these dry pearl-like beads, meaning if you wanted to take them with you on vacation, it’s unbelievably easy. Just pour some into a travel bottle, and away you go! Added bonus: it’s not a liquid. You don’t have to worry about messy spills and if necessary, you can even drop them in your carry-on bag without an issue.
To use, just pour a handful in your bath water. And trust me, a small handful is enough. The beads are pretty heavily fragranced, so I found myself preferring to use less. As I was playing around with the product, I realized that you can also use the beads to soak your hands or feet pre- manicure or pedicure. It’s an excellent way to soften your skin before a mani pedi.
Once you stir the water to help the beads dissolve, your water will turn a pretty shade of gold. If you look closely, you will see gold shimmers throughout the water – a nice little added touch (yes, I know, I’m all about the visual). Final step? Relax and let your tensions melt away…
