Can you get hooked on lip balm?

As many of you know, I’m a science geek to the core. So you can imagine my excitement when I learned that the immensely popular blog, The Beauty Brains came out with a book called “Can you get hooked on lip balm?” If you are not familiar with The Beauty Brains, you need to check out their site…STAT! Out of the many beauty help guides I have come across during my years in the industry, this has got to be one of my fav finds. It is a GREAT resource, written by a team of cosmetic chemists with more than 40 years of combined experience, who really help you understand the truth behind your beauty products.

I know it is difficult to sift through the gazillions of beauty products on the market, but The Beauty Brains provides you a no-nonsense, unbiased and witty take on the facts, helping you make smarter purchases. They are not cosmetic marketers nor environmental lobbyists with political agendas, but they’re the real people behind those lab goggles who actually make the stuff. They know exactly what goes inside these formulas, and which ingredients are truly efficacious.

Even after studying cosmetic chemistry myself, I still learned a lot from this book. And it’s not just for big nerds like me! For ANY beauty shopper who wants to see past the marketing clutter and figure out which products are worth the money, this is a must-have. Yes, there are some science-y terms thrown in, but don’t worry, it is an easy read. You will be enlightened, I promise. Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself. Just click here for a little excerpt on the book.

In this book, you will find answers to some of your most-asked beauty questions, including:
♥ What does ORGANIC really mean?
♥ Why does my shampoo STOP WORKING?
♥ Does snake venom really work as BOTOX?
♥ How does TUBING MASCARA work?
♥ Are NAIL POLISH FUMES dangerous?
♥ Why do people think PARABENS are bad?
♥ And of course, can you really get HOOKED ON LIP BALM?

In addition, The Beauty Brains gives some valuable tidbits + recos including:
♥ 3 reasons why moisturizers on hands and face should be different – that’s right, some marketing is NOT just hype!
♥ 5 home beauty gadgets that really work – including one of my favs, the Zeno!
♥ 5 ways that beauty products can go bad – better check yours, asap!

Honestly, for $16.95, the book is well worth the money. Eager to purchase? Just visit one of these stores: Amazon, Indigo, Barnes & Nobles, Borders, Books-A-Million, Indiebound, or Walmart.
