We spend so much time taking care of our skin that sometimes we forget our lips need a little R&R as well. In the dry, winter months, flakey lips seem inevitable. As a result, our lipsticks or even lip glosses for that matter, doesn’t sit nicely on the lips. If you’re using a matte lipstick, the flakiness will even be more pronounced. Whenever I find myself in such a predicament, I usually seek out a nourishing lip balm + a lip exfoliator. My latest fav is Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish and their new Sugar Advanced Therapy.
Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish contains brown sugar crystals and a nourishing blend of meadowfoam seed, jojoba seed and grapeseed oils which gently buffs away flakes while moisturizing and protecting the lips. I like to put a little on a soft toothbrush and gently brush the lips before rinsing away with warm water. I find that it removes the flakes more effectively that way. Whatever you do, refrain from picking your lips! Picking the flakes off will damage the skin. A gentle exfoliation is a much better way of smoothing out the lips – and it’ll be a lot less painful! Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish retails for $22.50.
I’ve been so excited about Fresh’s new Sugar Advanced Therapy when it launched but still haven’t had the chance to try it yet! I’m already a die-hard fan of Fresh’s lip balms, but this new formula promises to ‘repair, nourish, plump and smooth out wrinkles around the lip area.’ It contains hyaluronic filling spheres which will help plump the lips plus it contains a nourishing and anti-aging blend of cupuacu butter, plum seed oil, passionflower seed oil and sea fennel extract. Does that not sound divine? I also have a particular affinity for lip balms that you don’t have to stick your finger in. You can be sure I’ll be picking one up on my next trip to Sephora. It retails for $25.
With these 2 lip products in my beauty arsenal, I can kiss my winter lips goodbye…
