‘Greenify’ your beauty routine for Earth Day!

Happy Friday Beauty Nerds! I’m still in the middle of finals unfortunately, so it’s not a super happy Friday for me this week. But this time next week, I will be DONE!! I am counting down the days :). Anyway, as you probably know, Earth Day is this Sunday. So in spirit of Earth Day, here are two smart tips (as I discovered through Garnier) on how to make your beauty routine a little more eco-friendly.

{1} Try to take shorter showers. If you can reduce your shower time to 5 minutes, you can save up to 60 gallons of water!! That’s a big difference that one person can make!

{2} Recycle your empty beauty products through Garnier and Terracycle’s Personal Care & Beauty Brigade program. Garnier has partnered up with Terracycle to help you recycle your empty beauty bottles, jars and tubes. I’m so happy to find out about this recycling program because I always felt so guilty throwing my empty beauty packages away. All you have to do is collect enough empty beauty packages to fill a box, print out a pre-paid shipping label from Terracycle and ship it off to be recycled. For every approved product that you recycle, you can collect Terracycle points which can be redeemed for charitable gifts, or converted to a donation that would be made to the non-profit organization or school of your choice, with the value of $0.01 per point.

Here’s a cute little video by Garnier that perhaps explains it a little better than I have :)…

So what do you say? Do you think you could make these 2 commitments in order to make our planet a little greener?
