Kaia Naturals: eco-friendly wipes for delicate skin types

While I was rummaging through my product drawer this morning (and yes, I have several beauty product drawers, a testament to my crazy obsession), I discovered a forgotten, but cherished sample of a Kaia Naturals cleansing cloth. Don’t you love when you rediscover these hidden gems? I had not heard of this brand until I attended a beauty event awhile back, but quickly became intrigued by the potential makeup removing powers in this tiny, little eco-friendly packette.

I was excited to try this product for a number of reasons:
1. Taking off your makeup at the end of the day is a chore. I know it needs to be done, but if I’m really tired, I reach for what I call my “lazy wipes”. I’ve tried various makeup removal wipes from different drugstore brands, but all have left my skin feeling uncomfortably taut. It’s not a great feeling, but sometimes tiredness overcomes my desire to be finicky about my skin care. So you can imagine my excitement when I realized that Kaia Naturals contains a wealth of skin soothing and moisturizing ingredients such as Canadian organic honey, sunflower seed oil, oat amino acids, and a pretty blend of citrus essential oils including grapefruit, lemon, lime, bergamont, mandarin, orange, and tangerine oils. Finally — some tender-loving ingredients infused into my lazy wipes!

2. Who doesn’t love multi-benefit products when you’re tired?? – Cleanser, toner and eye makeup remover in one! (Although I wouldn’t really recommend relying on this on a regular basis – it’s still better to use separate products for your regular regimen.)

3. The unbelievably soft cloth feels amazingly gentle on my skin. Better yet, it is made from bamboo, a sustainable crop. We can all help ‘save the trees’ by using bamboo instead (apparently other rayon cloths use 50% wood fibers). Bamboo also has natural, anti-microbial properties and is therefore more hygienic than your traditional cloths. These cleansing cloths are unbleached, minimizing the need for unnecessary chemicals.

4. Unlike many cosmetic wipes on the market, this one is suitable for sensitive skin! At last! Now the sensitive skin types can be lazy as well!

5. No rinsing or water required – my makeup came off immediately. I don’t usually wear waterproof mascara, but for those of you that do, Kaia Naturals claims that it works well to remove waterproof formulas.

6. The cloth is 100% biodegradable and not tested on animals.

And, if you blacklist various cosmetic chemicals, you will also be happy to know that Kaia Naturals does not contain alcohol, synthetic fragrance, parabens or sulfates.

Now… for the not so appealing attribute – a box of 30 wipes costs $17.99! A great product, but it will cost you a pretty penny! It works out to about $0.60/wipe. But…. if I am really tired, is the $0.60 worth it? Totally. I just need to put boundaries on my laziness, which I guess is not a bad thing to strive for…

That IS pricey, and it looks a bit small. Still, when you find something that works…

Yes I agree – I think it’s more of a splurge type of item. I definitely can’t afford to be using it everyday!!
