Happy Friday lovelies! This time last week, I was en route to Chicago with Mr. Beauty Nerd, visiting a good friend. It was my first time to Chicago and I was beyond ecstatic to sample their infamous cuisine and explore their magnificent architecture. On Day 3 of our trip, we wandered around Wicker Park, which had to be, by far, my most favourite neighborhood in Chicago (out of the ones I’ve seen on my brief trip, that is). There were so many cute shops and boutiques – I could’ve spent hours there if it wasn’t for the scorching heat. One notable shop was Mojo Spa, a super cute local beauty boutique filled with beauty products inspired by comfort foods.
I mean, how could I not walk in, when a fun window display like this beckons?
Cupcakes, slices of cakes and other sweets galore! I had to resist the temptation not to take a bite out of everything. M-u-s-t r-e-m-e-m-b-e-r cupcakes are not edible!
Even their Martini Soy Candles have the ability to transform into body creams! As the sales girl demonstrated, just dip your fingers into the melted wax and rub onto hands, arms, and legs – or wherever you need a little extra moisturization. Each candle infused the air and skin with a delicious scent…
Potted lip glosses all scented with various aromatherapy oils for different moods…
Apparently, the founder, Amanda Kezios was a personal chef before she turned to developing beauty products. It may come as a surprise to you, but cooking and making beauty products are much more similar than you think! Their products are all made in house with natural food ingredients and aromatherapy blends.
At the back of the store, you could also get manicures, pedicures and various hand and feet treatments done. Although tempting, I didn’t want Mr. Beauty Nerd to get bored, so I didn’t pursue the idea. It would’ve been a great way to experience the products though, don’t you think?
Chicago is an amazing city and I would go back in a heartbeat. Here’s another picture Mr. Beauty Nerd took with his new camera :)…
Have you been to Chicago? What are your favourite places to visit? Did you drop by Mojo Spa when you were there?
