Yet another fragrance from this Barbados-born songstress – Rebelle by Rihanna. Her new fragrance comes in a gold and red bottle, in a shape that is inspired by an upside down stiletto heel.
Created by the very talented ‘noses’ of the industry – Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien, Rebelle by Rihanna is creamy and sensual. It contains the beautifully fruity top notes of plum and strawberry with a little spice from some notes of ginger. The heart is tropical in nature, with notes of vanilla orchid, heliotrope and cacoa absolute. But perhaps it’s the dry down that is the most striking because it’s what gives this fragrance its warmth – comprised of musk, coffee, patchouli and amber.
Personally, I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this fragrance despite the fact that it’s not normally the type of fragrance that I would gravitate towards. The warm, musky notes are surprisingly comforting without being overbearing. There’s a soft, feminine quality to it without being too floral.
And perhaps it’s most appropriate that I end with a quote by Rihanna, “My new fragrance is about taking control but still being a lady. There’s a feminine, romantic element to the fragrance – but there’s also a defiant quality in it. I love its duality.”
Rebelle by Rihanna debuts this month. The 100 ml Eau De Parfum Spray retails for $69.00 and the 50 ml Eau De Parfum Spray $59.00. What do you think Beauty Nerds? Have you had a chance to take a sniff?
